Who runs the classes?

Meet Abi.

Abi is one of the midwives that teaches our Bath antenatal classes. Abi is a qualified midwife and a health visitor and has enjoyed over 10 years working with families. Her experience has been varied which reflects the nature of pregnancy and parenthood! She has completed a masters of science, specifically researching aspects of postnatal care women receive in the UK and says this highlighted the value of good preparation and antenatal education, which is why she is so pleased to support families accessing this course. Abi’s son was born last year (2022) and she hopes to also bring recent personal experience to compliment her years of professional service.

How does this differ to NCT classes in Bath?

The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.

The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.

Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes in Bath are priced at £269, compared to £199 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. NCT classes in Bath are held at Newton St Loe village hall and New Oriel Hall community centre, whereas our classes take place at Burdall’s Yard where you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.

Our local community

Most of the people coming on our Bath course are from Bath. The course is also popular with those living in neighbouring areas of Bathampton, Combe Down and Bradford-on-Avon.

From walks around the beautiful historic city, to coffee shop hangouts and playdates at each other’s houses, graduates from our Bath antenatal classes are never short of things to do together.

Is it worth it?

“Great teachers, great venues, great company - if you are having a baby, you need to do this course!”

Tamsin and George. August course
