Who runs the classes?

Meet Rio.

Rio studied midwifery at The University of Bedfordshire, graduating in 2017. Since then Rio has worked in all areas of maternity but most recently has been based as a community midwife.

Currently she is heading towards the end of her maternity leave with her second child and has been busy testing out the best coffees and pastries the local area has to offer.

Rio says “I am so excited to meet you all and answer all of your burning questions. Our sessions are going to be informative and fun!”

How does this differ to NCT classes in Hemel Hempstead?

The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.

The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.

Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes in Hemel Hempstead are priced at £259, compared to £199 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. The NCT classes in Hemel Hempstead take place at The Boxmoor Trust Centre whereas our classes take place at a comfy and popular venue where you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates in lovely surroundings.

Our local community

Most of the people coming on our Hemel Hempstead course are from Hemel Hempstead. The course is also popular with those living in neighbouring areas of Redbourn, Bovingdon and Kings Langley.

From walks in Gadebridge Park to coffee meetings in the town centre and playdates at each other’s houses, graduates from our Hemel Hempstead antenatal classes are never short of things to do together.

Is it worth it?

“We had such a brilliant experience at the HPHB classes. The sessions were well structured and informative with plenty of opportunities to work with and chat with other couples. We both came away feeling that we had learnt so much (at a time when it’s very easy to feel overwhelmed!) and that we had made some lovely friends too. It took away a lot of the anxiety and fear of the unknown. Our course leader was absolutely brilliant; the weekly videos to watch and live sessions really enhanced the experience and were so valuable.”
