Who runs the classes?
Meet Love.
Love is one of the midwives who teaches our Herne Hill course. Graduating in 2017 from Anglia Ruskin University, Love has been a midwife for the past 7 years. Currently working as a Practice Development Midwife at a buzzing London hospital, she’s not all business – off-duty, she’s all about long walks and diving into a good book.
Love’s mantra? “I’m here to support, guide, and celebrate every step of this adventure with you. Embrace the journey, trust yourselves, and remember, you’ve got a whole cheering squad behind you!”
How does this differ to NCT classes in Herne Hill?
The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.
The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.
Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes in Brixton and Herne Hill are priced at £369, compared to £259 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. The NCT classes in Brixton and Herne Hill take place at New Park Road Baptist Church whereas our classes take place at the Trinity Arms so you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.
Our local Herne Hill community
Most of the people coming on our Herne Hill course are from the Brixton and Herne Hill area. The course is also popular with people living in neighbouring areas of Streatham and Camberwell and Vauxhall.
From walks in Brockwell Park to coffee in Brixton Market and baby cinema at the Ritzy, graduates from our Brixton and Herne Hill antenatal classes are never short of things to do together.
Is it worth it?
“Truly brilliant course. Couldn’t wish for better. Feel so much more empowered about birth and looking after baby having been on this course. The resources you’re given afterwards are great too. Excellent value for money! Thanks guys”
