Who runs the classes?

Meet Anna

Anna is one of the midwives that teaches our Potters Bar antenatal classes. Anna trained at the
City University of London and qualified in 2015. She now works as a Clinical Nurse and Midwifery Lead for a private agency, alongside her midwifery role in the community. Anna has built a comprehensive career across all sectors of maternity care, with a particular passion for working as a homebirth and stand alone birth centre midwife. These roles have allowed her to provide individualised, holistic patient centred care which she finds very rewarding.

Anna is a mum to two little girls and in her spare time she is usually in a playground or soft play drinking a large coffee! She says "I am so excited to share this part of your journey with you, I love antenatal education and find that knowledge is empowering, I want to give you the tools to make informed decisions about your care. It can sometimes be overwhelming but there is so much support available and what a great way for you all to meet others going on the same journey!"

How does this differ to NCT classes in Potters Bar?

The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.

The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.

Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes nearest to Potters Bar are priced at £299, compared to prices from £199 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. NCT classes near Potters Bar are held in Christ Church Barnet whereas our classes take place at the Brookmans pub so you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.

Our local Potters Bar community

Most people on our Potters Bar course are from Potters Bar. The course is also popular with people living neighbouring areas of Barnet, Brookmans Park & Hadley Wood.

From walks in Oakmere Park, to hangouts in the coffee shops and at each other’s houses, graduates from our Potters Bar antenatal classes are never short of things to do.

Is it worth it?

“Truly brilliant course. Couldn’t wish for better. Feel so much more empowered about birth and looking after baby having been on this course. The resources you’re given afterwards are great too. Excellent value for money! Thanks guys”
